The start of the school year always holds the promise of new experiences and excitement as thousands of students return to classrooms and campuses across Northern Kentucky.

We found plenty of both to share with you this edition.

Turkey Foot Middle School has gone completely solar, Xavier University has brought its highly-regarded MBA program to Fort Mitchell and tiny Beechwood was named by Newsweek as one of the country’s top public high schools.

Teachers are setting the academic bar higher and athletes including the cheerleaders on our cover are already hard at practice.

It’s not just about pencil boxes (we mean laptops) and backpacks, this issue extends far beyond the classroom.

We had the chance to talk with Matt Remke, the young president of the homegrown Remke biggs grocery group, and Chris Moriconi, mayor of the boomtown of Independence.

We also shared NKY Magazine’s official launch with a ribbon cutting and a celebration with friends from the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, politicians, community leaders and newsmakers.

So, join us in celebrating fall and the people and communities of Northern Kentucky.
